TBDY2018 Tab
If TBDY2018 is selected as the code on the code selection page, the following page becomes visible, allowing the TBDY2018 earthquake parameters to be entered.
SS, S1 are the mapped spectral acceleration coefficients. These values are obtained from the AFAD website by marking the location on the map according to the address of the building. For the step-by-step procedure on obtaining these values, please click OBTAINING TBDY2018 EARTHQUAKE PARAMETERS (SS, S1).
Building Type: Enables the automatic retrieval of the R and D factors from TBDY2018 Table 4.1 according to the building types defined in Section 11.
Masonry building types are given below (TBDY2018 Article 11.1.2):
(a) Unreinforced masonry building refers to the category of buildings with limited ductility level, where the load-bearing walls are constructed using only masonry units and mortar without any reinforcement;
(b) Reinforced masonry building refers to buildings with a high ductility level, obtained by placing reinforcement in the load-bearing walls constructed with masonry units and mortar in accordance with the rules given in this Section;
(c) Confined masonry building refers to buildings with a limited ductility level, formed by constructing horizontal and vertical bond beams — prepared using the load-bearing walls as formwork after they are laid and interconnected with reinforced concrete to each other and to the slab — in accordance with the rules given in this Section;
(d) Reinforced panel system building covers buildings with a high ductility level, in which the reinforcement located in the grooves between prefabricated reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) panels is connected to the foundation and to the reinforced concrete bond beams at storey levels, vertical AAC panels placed side by side form the load-bearing walls, and reinforced AAC panels connected to reinforced concrete bond beams form the slabs.
D(X), D(Y): These are the overstrength factors of the building in the X and Y directions. They are taken from TBDY2018 Table 4.1.
TBDY2018 Table 4.1 (Page 38)
I: This is the building importance factor. It is taken from TBDY2018 Table 3.1.
TBDY2018 Table 3.1 (Page 15)
R(X), R(Y): These are the Structural System Behavior (response modification) factors of the building in the X and Y directions. They are taken from TBDY2018 Table 4.1.
qt: This is the allowable soil bearing pressure.
DD: Earthquake Ground Motion Levels — left as DD2 for masonry buildings.
Address, Latitude, Longitude: Address information of the structure to appear in the calculation report (earthquake calculation); may be left blank or filled in — it does not affect the analysis results.
Local Soil Class: The Local Soil Class from the geotechnical report is selected.
Add 5% Additional Eccentricity Effect to Existing Eccentricity in Earthquake Load Calculation: This option should be checked for new building design; it should be unchecked when analyzing an existing building.
Apply Additional Equivalent Earthquake Load at Building Roof: This option must be selected. (TBDY2018 Article 4.7.2.)
