PREPARATIONS TO BE MADE BEFORE READY-MIX CONCRETE PLACEMENT
1) Quality formwork must be used. Quality formwork ensures that the concrete is properly worked and has a good appearance.
2) The formwork must be thoroughly cleaned before concrete is poured. Otherwise, foreign materials will affect both the appearance and the strength of the concrete.
3) The cleaned formwork must be coated with form release oil. This process ensures that the formwork is removed easily and that the concrete surface comes out smooth.
4) Before concrete placement, the formwork — especially in hollow-block (asmolen) slabs — must be wetted. Otherwise, the formwork absorbs water from the concrete and cracks may form.

When placing new concrete over existing concrete, the surface of the existing concrete must be cleaned and moistened.
-
When reinforcement is prepared, a concrete cover (protective spacing) must be left between the rebar and the formwork.
