BRICK WALL LAYING

1. Bricks shall be wetted before wall laying.

2. Before laying the first course, the floor and column sides must be cleaned and wetted.

3. Brick wall courses must be at the same height and level at window sill levels.

4. The smooth faces of the bricks shall face outward and toward the wider cavity.

5. All bricks must be bonded with a ½ brick offset.

6. At wall ends and corners, if factory half-bricks are not available, cut half-bricks shall be used.

7. At the junction of the wall with the column, joints shall be thoroughly filled.

8. The number of brick courses and the horizontal joint thickness shall be adjusted according to the height of the area to be walled. As much as possible, the last brick course shall consist of whole bricks.

9. At the junction of the last brick with the beam or ceiling, the brick shall be wedged tight; the final joint shall be thoroughly filled with mortar.

10. Brick joints shall be evenly spaced and completely filled with mortar.

11. After the laid walls are completed, water shall be sprinkled for 8 hours to keep them moist, preventing the mortar from burning.

12. When viewed from the wall face, bricks shall be laid so that their holes are as invisible as possible.

13. On exterior facades, the edges of windows shall be aligned and plumb with respect to the exterior face.

14. Brick wedge pieces shall be driven into the last courses at door and window edges and corners.

15. Pre-fabricated reinforced concrete lintel elements shall be placed so that they bear equally on the walls on both sides, taking the door heights in the project into account.

16. A 250-dose cement mortar shall be used for the wall.

17. The consistency of the mortar shall be adjusted according to weather conditions.

18. When continuing on half-finished walls, the existing wall shall be wetted before resuming wall laying.

19. While laying the wall, a wide board shall be leaned against the first course; mortar spilled onto it shall be immediately collected, re-mixed, and reused.

20. Mortar shall not be mixed on the floor slab during wall laying, and mortar residue shall not be left behind.

21. Bricks with a face broken or chipped at a corner or in the middle shall be used with the broken face inward, and the void from the break shall be filled with mortar.

22. When laying a half-brick wall, once a height of 1.5 m is reached, a wait of at least 6 hours is required before resuming wall laying.

23. Brick walls shall not be laid at temperatures below −3°C, or measures shall be taken to prevent the mortar from freezing.
