Masonry Building with Concrete or Reinforced Concrete Walls
MASONRY BUILDING ANALYSIS WITH SOME WALLS MADE OF CONCRETE OR REINFORCED CONCRETE
If you are using Version 7;
You can enter reinforced concrete basement shear walls or subbase shear walls that do not continue to the upper storey as reinforced concrete basement shear walls. If the shear walls continue to the upper storeys, enter them as Reinforced Concrete shear walls.
If you are using a version prior to Version 7
Concrete or reinforced concrete shear wall elements are entered into the program just like other walls.
The unit weight can be taken as 2400 for concrete and 2500 for reinforced concrete.
The concrete modulus of elasticity is entered as the modulus of elasticity.
In the subbase storey (and in other storeys), the bond beam height at the top of the wall must always be less than the storey height. Otherwise, since the wall stiffnesses will become undefined, errors may occur during analysis.
The wall compressive strength value can be selected as fck for a new building or as fm for an existing building. The safety factor Gamma m (Ym) can be taken as 1.5 for new structures and as 1 for existing building assessments.
The wall cracking allowable stress value can be selected as 0.65*fctk.
fctk=0.35*sqrt(fck) ; fck unit is MPa (TS500 Formula 3.1)
If you are using Version 6, select the reinforced wall checkbox in the wall properties. You can let the program select the reinforcement, or you can specify the reinforcement you want and consider sufficient. If the reinforcement is provided by the user, the adequacy of the provided reinforcement is checked in the calculation reports.
