SAP2000-integrated risky building analysis with StatiCAD
The risk analysis of a building with timber slabs — or with some slabs timber and some slabs reinforced concrete — integrated with SAP2000 via StatiCAD, in accordance with the Risky Building Regulation (RYTEİE2019), is explained in the YouTube video below.
Points Recommended to Pay Attention To
1- If the building has more than one storey, the centre axes of the exterior walls must be drawn so that they are directly above one another. If the centre axes of the upper-storey exterior walls are left floating in space, SAP2000 will treat the wall as a cantilever. For interior walls, however, exact alignment of the centre axes is not critically important, because load transfer through the slab is possible even without continuity below.
2- Wall, beam, and slab connections must be made at their centre axes. Otherwise they will be recognised as free-ended elements in the SAP2000 model.
3- Unless there is an additional special condition in the SAP2000 transfer settings, the support elevation for the option "Create supports at nodes sharing the specified elevation" must be set to 0 cm.
4- In projects with a half-basement, StatiCAD does not assign supports in the SAP2000 model to walls that rest on the ground at ground-floor level and do not continue into the basement. Supports for those walls must be assigned inside SAP2000 using the Assign Joint Restraints command (by selecting the relevant nodes).
