StatiCAD with AI: Overview
Figure 1 – The built-in assistant is opened with the Yapay Zeka (Artificial Intelligence) button on the bottom toolbar of the main screen (Ultimate and Hybrid)
1. About this series of articles
You can use StatiCAD with AI in three ways: with the AI Assistant built into the program, with an AI agent that you install on your computer (Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, Google Antigravity), or with the computer use feature, in which the agent sees your screen and uses the mouse and keyboard. In addition, the assistant on the www.staticad.com website answers your questions about the knowledge base, features, editions and prices.
This series is written for users who have never used AI tools. Each article explains one way from start to finish, step by step, from opening an account to the first request.
| Article | What it covers |
|---|---|
| 1. Overview: which way should I choose? | Compares the ways, the concepts, and the differences between editions and costs; tells you where to start. |
| 2. Built-in assistant (with an API key) | Explains how to get a Claude, OpenAI or Gemini API key for the AI Console inside StatiCAD and enter it in the program. |
| 3. StatiCAD with Claude Code (recommended) | Claude subscription, installing the desktop app, opening StatiCAD with the terminal channel and the first prompt. |
| 4. With ChatGPT (Codex) and Google (Antigravity) | Doing the same work with ChatGPT's Codex app or Google's Antigravity tool. |
| 5. Computer use: letting the AI use the screen | The agent looks at screenshots and uses the mouse and keyboard; for editions without a terminal. |
| 6. Ready-to-use prompt (command) examples | Prompts you can copy and use: setting up a project, analysis, reports, checks. |
| 7. Structural project from an architectural DXF plan | The AI reads an architectural DXF plan and produces the structural model, calculation report and structural drawings in StatiCAD; preparing the DXF. |
Information that may change: The plan names, prices and menus of AI companies change often. If a menu name differs from what is written here, choose the closest equivalent; for prices, see the linked official page.
2. A few concepts first
| Concept | Plain meaning |
|---|---|
| AI model | The program that understands what you write and produces an answer. The best known are Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's GPT (ChatGPT) and Google's Gemini. They run on these companies' servers; an internet connection is required. |
| Chat app | Websites such as claude.ai and chatgpt.com. They only talk; they cannot touch the StatiCAD on your computer. |
| Agent | An AI that does work on your computer on your behalf: it reads files, runs commands and operates programs. It asks for your permission before every important step. |
| Prompt | The request you write to the AI. The more clearly you write, the better the result (Ready-to-use prompt examples). |
| Subscription | A fixed monthly fee (such as Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus). Claude Code and Codex work with a subscription. A subscription does not include the API credit used by the built-in assistant. |
| API and API key | The API is the gateway through which a program connects directly to the AI; the API key is the password to this gateway. The built-in assistant works this way and is pay-as-you-go (prepaid credit). Protect the key like your credit card details. |
| Terminal channel | StatiCAD Ultimate and Hybrid accept commands from outside when they are opened with the --term parameter. Agents use this channel to have StatiCAD draw walls, start the analysis and so on. |
| Computer use | The agent looks at screenshots and uses the mouse and keyboard in your place. It also works in editions without a terminal channel, but it is slower. |
| AGENTS.md | An instruction file prepared for agents: it explains how to use the program safely and which rules to follow. It is located in the Ultimate installation folder. |
3. Four ways
1. Built-in assistant (API)
Where: Inside StatiCAD, the Yapay Zeka (Artificial Intelligence) button on the bottom toolbar.
What it does: Turns your request into program commands: draws elements, adds storeys, changes settings, starts the analysis, produces reports.
What you need: Ultimate or Hybrid; an API key and credit from Claude, OpenAI or Gemini.
2. AI agent (recommended)
Where: A separate app: the Code tab of the Claude desktop app, ChatGPT Codex or Google Antigravity.
What it does: Reads AGENTS.md and the command guides and operates StatiCAD through the terminal channel: sets up projects (including reading an architectural DXF plan and turning it into a model), runs the analysis, reads and summarizes the results, produces reports and drawings. It is the most powerful way for long, multi-step work.
What you need: A subscription (e.g. Claude Pro). Ultimate or Hybrid for the terminal channel.
Claude Code → · Codex / Antigravity →
3. Computer use
Where: A feature that you turn on in the Claude desktop app or in Codex.
What it does: The agent sees the screen and uses the mouse and keyboard. It does the work that is not available in the terminal, such as windows, dialogs and visual checks.
What you need: Claude Pro/Max or a ChatGPT plan. It works in all editions of StatiCAD.
4. Website assistant
Where: www.staticad.com.
What it does: Answers questions about the knowledge base, program features, differences between editions and prices.
What you need: Only a web browser. It has no access to your program or your projects.
4. Comparison
| Built-in assistant | AI agent (terminal) | Computer use | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Inside StatiCAD, in a small window | In a separate app; sends commands to StatiCAD through the terminal channel | In a separate app; sees the screen and uses the mouse and keyboard |
| StatiCAD edition | Ultimate, Hybrid | Ultimate, Hybrid | All editions |
| Payment | Pay-as-you-go (API credit) | Monthly subscription | Monthly subscription (the same as the agent's) |
| Setup | Easiest: get the key, paste it into the program | Install the app, open StatiCAD with --term | Turn on a setting in the agent app |
| Best for | Short, single-step requests: “draw a wall here”, “run the analysis” | Setting up projects, analysis, reading results, producing reports and drawings; multi-step work | Window and dialog work, visual checks; editions without a terminal |
| Limitations | Remembers only the last few messages; cannot see your screen or your files | Work that is not available in the terminal needs computer use | Slow; you cannot use the computer while it is working |
5. Which one should I choose?
- I am trying AI for the first time and want it to draw a few elements → If your edition is Ultimate or Hybrid, the built-in assistant.
- Long jobs such as “Set up a two-storey masonry building, analyse it and save the report as a PDF” → Claude Code (recommended) or Codex.
- I have the architect's DXF plan and want the AI to produce the structural model, the calculation report and the structural drawings → Claude Code with Structural project from an architectural DXF plan: the agent reads and interprets the DXF itself and draws the model.
- My edition is Profesyonel, Standart, Betonarme or Yığma (no terminal channel) → computer use with Claude Code or Codex: the agent uses the program through the screen.
- I have a question about the program, or I want to find out prices or features → the assistant on www.staticad.com or the knowledge base.
Our recommendation: If you will use it regularly, the combination Claude Code + StatiCAD Ultimate/Hybrid (terminal) + computer use when needed is the most efficient way. The built-in assistant, on the other hand, is handy for small jobs without leaving the program; you can use both together.
6. By StatiCAD edition
| Edition (installation folder) | Built-in assistant | Agent + terminal | Computer use | AGENTS.md in the folder |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Ultimate (C:\StatiCAD\Ultimatex64) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Hybrid (C:\StatiCAD\Hybrid) | Yes | Yes | Yes | No* |
| Profesyonel, Standart, Betonarme, Yığma Pro, Yığma Standart | No | No | Yes | No* |
Demo installations (...Demo) | Depends on the edition | Depends on the edition | Yes | Depends on the edition |
* At present, AGENTS.md comes only with the Ultimate installation. If it is not in your folder, the agent works with the YARDIM_AI_KOMUTLAR.md and AI_Terminal_yardim.md files found in every installation; the prompt examples take this into account.
Demo editions: In demo installations, report, drawing (DXF) and IFC export and some terminal commands are disabled; the project is saved with the .sdm extension. If the AI cannot do a job because it is “disabled in the demo version”, this is not an error.
7. Costs (roughly)
| Way | How it is paid | Approximate amount (November 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in assistant | Prepaid credit is loaded on the provider's developer site; each message is deducted from the credit. | At Anthropic and OpenAI, a minimum top-up of about USD 5. A request usually costs a few cents, depending on the model. Google Gemini has a limited free tier. |
| Claude Code | Claude subscription (Pro or Max). | Pro about USD 20 per month (~USD 17 per month with annual billing); for heavy use, Max at USD 100 or 200 per month. |
| ChatGPT Codex | ChatGPT plan. | Limited on the free plan; Plus about USD 20 per month, Pro about USD 200 per month. |
| Google Antigravity | Google account; the usage limit depends on the account type. | You can start with a free account; Google AI Pro about USD 20 per month. |
| Computer use | Included in the Claude or ChatGPT subscription. | No extra charge. |
Prices exclude taxes; depending on your country, they may be shown in local currency with taxes added (in Türkiye, in TL). Current prices: claude.com/pricing (Claude subscriptions and API), openai.com/chatgpt/pricing, and for API prices also OpenAI API and Gemini API.
A subscription and the API are separate things: A ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription does not cover the API credit used by the built-in assistant. For the built-in assistant, you need to load credit separately on the developer site. Conversely, Claude Code and Codex do not need API credit; the subscription is enough.
8. Security and responsibility
Engineering responsibility is yours: AI can make mistakes: it can enter a wrong dimension, the wrong storey, the wrong material or incomplete loads. Check the model it builds in the plan and 3D views, and check the analysis warnings and results yourself. Section, material, code and earthquake parameters must be entered with your approval.
- Make a backup: Make a copy of your project file before you start. Add the sentence “do not overwrite the existing file, save it under a different name” to your request.
- Do not share your API key: Do not send the key by email, in a message or in a screenshot. If you suspect that it has leaked, revoke it immediately on the provider's site.
- Read permission requests: The agent asks for permission before it runs a command or changes a file. Do not allow a request if you do not understand what it will do; ask “what will this command do?”.
- Do not open the program twice: Starting a second copy while StatiCAD is open breaks the hardware key (dongle) session. Ask the agent: “do not restart the program if it is open”.
- Confidential projects: Your requests and the files you send go to the AI company's servers. For commercial or confidential projects, read the provider's data policy; on free tiers, the content you send may be used to improve the service.
9. Where should I start?
- Find out your edition: it is shown in the title bar of the program window (e.g. StatiCAD Ultimate V.10.1.0.0).
- If you use Ultimate or Hybrid, first set up the built-in assistant and try a few simple requests.
- For bigger jobs, follow the Claude Code article.
- If your edition has no terminal, go on to the computer use article after installing Claude Code.
- If you are going to produce a project from an architectural DXF plan, follow the Structural project from an architectural DXF plan article.
- Use the ready-to-use prompt examples when you write your requests.
The plan, price and menu names of Anthropic, OpenAI and Google services may change over time; for up-to-date information, see the linked official pages. The model built and the results produced by the AI must be checked by the responsible engineer.
