Retrofitting Walls with Insufficient Shear Capacity

If the analysis results reveal walls with insufficient shear capacity (shown in purple on screen), the amount of walls in the deficient direction of the building can be increased, wall thicknesses in the deficient direction can be increased, vertical bond beams can be added inside the deficient walls, or a reinforced wall solution can be adopted.

When a vertical bond beam is added inside or at the end of a deficient wall, the following option must be selected in the project settings for the program to take it into account.

After adding vertical bond beams inside/at the end of the deficient walls, an analysis is performed to check whether the deficiency has been resolved. If the deficiency persists, the dimensions of the vertical bond beams are increased or new vertical bond beams can be added within the same wall.
